At this time of year many of us moms are a little worried about the summer loneliness. How will we keep the kids happy for the next three months until school resumes? I actually think being bored is a good thing – it gives kids a chance to use their imaginations.

Of course, being alone also makes my kids tend to cuss, swear or threaten each other, which is pretty minor. Sometimes getting out of the house is what the kids need, but sometimes I just really want them to be able to hang out at home for a while without losing a limb or destroying property. Today I’m sharing a list of 101 fun summer activities for kids that can all be done at home: you’ll find fun games, easy crafts, and simple activities. Perfect for restoring sibling harmony and keeping your sanity on those lazy summer days at home.

What Are Some Fun Activities

I scoured my brain (and the internet) for as many fun things to make at home as I could find. Some of these summer activities will require some help from parents, but others can be done without much supervision. It was fun to print the list and hang it on the wall so my kids could see it when the B word was mentioned. That way they can decide what sounds interesting and test the tasks as they go.

Finding Some Fun Fall Activities For Kids

You can download the list in two different formats. First, click here to download a 16×20 .jpg file that you can put into a photo processor to print ($7 at Costco).

Or, if you prefer to print the list at home, click here to download the 4 page .pdf. Print the pages at 100%, then reduce the white border at the top of pages 2, 3 and 4, and staple or glue the pages together.

About half of the ideas on the list are followed by asterisks. This means that these ideas have a blog post or web page that provides information and instructions, and they are all linked in the list below. You can bookmark this page, or https:///summerfun, so your kids can find directions for any activity on the starred list.

Finally, please leave me any fun summer ideas you and your kids enjoy in the comments so I can make this list even bigger next year!
