Traveling Hacks – I have been going pretty good non stop for the past 13 years. That means I’ve packed and unpacked at least a million times (or so it seems). Over the years, I have learned and created many travel packing systems that have made life easier and more organized, which I share with you in this post.

Instead of folding clothes, roll them. Learning how to roll clothes into a package saves space instead of folding and packing them. Learning to do laundry is a great space saver and prevents wrinkles in your clothes. While this may seem like common sense, don’t overlook the nuances of learning how to roll laundry packets and maximize your luggage space.

Even if your suitcase isn’t fragile, label it as such because the people carrying your suitcase won’t know it anyway. They will see the sticker and hopefully be more careful with your stuff. Fingers crossed.

Placing your jewelry in pill containers keeps everything organized and prevents you from losing your favorite earrings. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost one earring in a pair. Since I’ve used this packing hack to safely organize my jewelry, it hasn’t happened often.

If you’re worried about packing gels and lotions, get yourself a shampoo and conditioner. I am obsessed with the company called

While this may seem like common sense, this is one of the most commonly overlooked travel packing hacks. Wrapping the soap in a washcloth is no better than storing it in one of those plastic bags or ziplock bags.

Frozen sponges are a great way to keep your food cold on the plane. Not to mention, you’ll get protection without getting hit. Just put the frozen sponge and your food in a Ziploc bag and you have your own portable refrigerator.

Bring an oven mitt to store your curling iron or hair straightener on those mornings when you have to pack up and leave too early. This will prevent your hair tools from burning something in your suitcase.

Hair conditioner can be used for things other than your hair. Shoe polish, makeup remover or shaving cream can be used.

When packing your suitcase, place all heavy items near the wheels of the suitcase. That way, when you close your suitcase and turn it horizontally, heavy items won’t come out and crush other items.

Put anything breakable or explosive, such as hairspray or shampoo bottles, in socks. That way if they break or explode, it will be in your socks and not in your entire suitcase.

Travel Hacks For Finding Cheap Flights

I always carry a pillowcase with me especially when I stay in a hostel. It’s nice to put my face on my pillowcase at the end of the day. The pillow case is also great for laundry.

If you decide to check your bag, be sure to bring toiletries, breakables, valuables and a change of clothes in a bag-in-bag to take with you on the flight. That way, if your luggage gets lost, you still have your valuables and a change of clothes with you.

Although this travel packing hack may make you look like the Michelin Man, it’s worth it. If you are going to a cold place, wear as many clothes as possible on the plane. Put on your heavy jacket, winter boots, some sweatshirts, T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts. Once you’re on the plane, remove several layers so you don’t feel like you’re in a sauna the entire flight.

Sarongs have many purposes. You can use one to cover a religious monument, temple or church. You can use one as a blanket if you’re on the bus overnight or as a beach towel. You can use one as a pillow case and of course a fashion accessory. The list goes on.

Tips: 5 Travel Hacks (that Will Change Your Life!)

A simple lifestyle decision that doubles as a travel packing trick is to buy reusable clothes for your next trip. Packing something that can be transformed into multiple outfits is the key to packing easily without looking like you’re wearing the same outfit every day. There is a clothing line called Encircled that sells great 5-in-1 travel clothes that are high quality and affordable. I have several items from their line and use them all the time. One shirt I have can be worn 8 different ways.

If you have never tried packing tubes, you should order them right away. They change lives! Not only do they keep your wardrobe organized, but they also allow you to pack more.

I’m in trouble with my husband Siya (not really) because I was notorious for carelessly putting cables in the trunk. What I’ve learned is that when you wrap them properly, they take up a lot less space and you don’t destroy them.

Pack only what you need is my motto. To reduce the number of cables you bring, check how many of your electronics take up one cable. You might be surprised.

Business Travel Hacks: Turn Work Into Play

Before I used this packing hack, I put my necklaces in a small zip lock bag. Then I would spend hours trying to fix them during the trip (not the best way to spend time). This simple packing hack is pretty genius. If you take your collars and tie them with straw, you keep them nice and untangled.

To keep clothes and everything else in your suitcase from getting dirty, place the soles of your shoes in a shower cap.

This might be my favorite packaging cover of all. Every time I go to the mall, I stop at Sephora and pick up free samples. There is no catch. You can log in and request a free sample of almost all products. I’m talking like a monthly basis in one sample. Samples are usually less than 100ml, which means you can pack them in your luggage without problems.

GoToobs are amazing! They are 100ml plastic containers for your liquid. They are great if you need to pack shampoo, conditioner, or sunscreen. What makes GoToobs better than other travel containers is the fact that you can squeeze out every last drop of liquid because of the material it’s made of.

Another way to prevent your liquids or gels from exploding all over your bag is to use plastic wrap. Loosen the caps of each product, place the plastic wrap on the bottle and screw the cap back on. If it explodes, not all your clothes go.

Cotton swabs are great for many things, especially cleaning the ears, applying and removing makeup. If you have an old pill bottle, keep it there instead of taking a box of 300 with you. It’s the best way to keep them clean, organized and save space.

Everyone I’ve shared this travel packing hack with says it’s their favorite. If you’re traveling internationally and packing a lot of electronics, definitely bring an adapter, but also a power cord. This way, you can install six different things in your power bar and you only need to bring one international adapter.
