A water table can keep kids entertained for hours, and we highly recommend the Step 2 selection. Go simple with (1) the Water Wheel Activity Play Table and more complicated with (2) the Water Splash Table Playset ( 2) rain showers (kids will love the 2 levels of play and the shower feature on this one). Keep it fresh all summer long by adding different toys or everyday objects – make an underwater race track with miniature cars, a submerged construction site with trucks, a restaurant with kitchen utensils or a swimming pool fit for a princess!

If you’re looking for a simple little pool where kids can relax and run around, the (3)Intex Kiddie Pool fits the bill. It has a folded bottom which makes it very comfortable – meaning your kids will end up spending more time in it (while you sit and watch with your feet up!). It also comes in a smaller Baby size. (Tip: this pool can also be used as a ball pit)

(4)The Intex Inflatable Family Pool is a great size for your kids to spread out and really feel like they’re “frolicking”. It’s easy to set up (but requires an electric air pump) and will easily fit 4-5 kids for a cool dunk.

Slide ‘n’: We spent hours on this classic toy as a kid, but they’ve gotten better over the years and now have extra bells and whistles. We recommend the (1) Intex Surf ‘N’ Play Center Inflatable Slide as a less extreme option for younger kids and the more classic (2) Double Slide Wheel for older kids (this has 2 lanes which are fun for runners and comes with inflatable boogie boards that enable more comfortable and faster driving!)

Sprinklers: There’s nothing like a good “run through the sprinklers” to make it feel like summer. But sprinklers are anything but classic. Try the (3) Hydro Storm Twist Sprinkler, (4) Fire Hydrant (which twists and sprays water up to 8 feet) or (5) Melissa and Doug Blossom Bright Sprinkler.

Literacy Games For Kids: Indoor And Outdoor Learning Fun!

Water Guns: Water guns are great fun for kids on a hot summer day – our favorites for target practice and water battles are the (6) Nerf Super Soaker Scatterblast Blaster and (7) Machine Stream Water Launcher.

Water Balloons: When it comes to speed and convenience, you can’t beat Zuru’s Bunch O (8) Balloons. Simply connect them to your hose, and seconds later you have 35 filled water balloons ready for an epic fight.

And if you have older kids, don’t pass up the (9)Bunch O Balloon Slingshot – it’s great fun for target practice, with or without people!

Splash Mat: This (10) Sprinkle ‘N Splash Play Mat is a must buy if you have a toddler. Simply attach it to a garden hose and spray water from the edges (control the height with the amount of water pressure) and it creates a splash pool an inch or so deep… just the right amount of water to cool off and let them splash and wade!

If you’re lucky enough to have a pool (or have access to one), there are some great pool toys that can add to the excitement as the summer wears on. We love (1) this large floating inflatable basketball hoop, (2) SwimWays Toypedo Banditsdive toys, and (3) Melissa and Doug Spark Shark Fishing.

And don’t miss the (4) SwimWays Zoom-A-Ray – it’s one of the coolest pool toys out there. Simply push it under the water and release it to watch it slide quickly through the water. The wings of the beam are adjustable so you can do “tricks” and spins. The kids have a great race to catch this one!

While the (5) Waboba Surf Ballis are best suited for use in the ocean or lake where you can take advantage of the wide open space, the kids also had a ball (literally!) with it in the pool. Throw this ball on the surface of the water and it will bounce – making for a refreshing game of catch.

If you have older children who can easily swim underwater, you should get (6) Watermelon Balls. Fill it with water and it becomes neutrally buoyant, so it doesn’t sink or float—instead, it’s suspended so you can toss and bounce it underwater. Children become very creative playing with it – inventing new games and trying new tricks. Super fun! (also available in a
