What do you think of when you think of Halloween? Spiders and ghosts and witches, oh! These are some of our favorite spooky things, so of course, we had to include them in a fun Halloween party. Read on if you want to impress your kids and have some fun!

Simple Halloween Activities

Shaving cream ghosts are probably the simplest of these Halloween activities for kids, but they are one of the most popular. Preparing this activity is very easy. All you need is a can or two of shaving cream, some googly eyes and a tray. I have some nice plastic sets that I use for these activities.

For the shaving cream dreams, pour lots of shaving cream onto a tray and sprinkle in a variety of googly eyes of different sizes and colors. Kids put their hands in shaving cream and come away with a ghost! Kids love the texture and consistency of the shaving cream. It will be interesting to see what kind of demons they create. For extra fun, you can add some plastic spiders. Or use orange or green food coloring or liquid watercolor to make cream flowers or Frankensteins.

Monster Handprints is another easy and fun Halloween activity. For these, you will need paper, paint, googly eyes, as well as glitter, glue and stickers. Let your children paint hand prints on their own paper. They can then add googly eyes and stickers to create their own personal monsters. My kids used triangle sticks to make their monster arms. After the handprints are dry, you can use school glue to make fun designs and add glitter.

Looking for more fall activity? Use what nature provides to make a fall foliage tree. Take your kids on a nature walk and collect lots of colorful leaves. Use a large piece of paper to draw a simple tree. Then your kids use the school glue to decorate the tree. Hang it up so the outside stays a little inside! For more fun, you can collect other things like trees, shrubs, and pinecones to make a fall wreath or collage.

Halloween Games For Kids

Do you have a little time on your hands for prep work? You should definitely do some foaming sprites! I saw this activity years ago on Fun at Home with Kids. Your kids will love these cute spiders and little surprises inside!

To make the spiders, you will need baking soda, water and food coloring. Mix about 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of water in a bowl (add a little food coloring or liquid coloring to the water to color the sprigs). Mix well until all the baking soda is dissolved. Take a handful of the mixture and insert some small plastic sprigs. Then add more mix to cover the spiders and twist them, making the spider’s belly. Cut four pipe cleaners in half and insert them into the spider’s belly to make eight legs. Then use the remaining baking soda mixture to make the spider’s head. After making all your spiders, place them on wax paper and freeze for a few hours. If you freeze them overnight, you’ll want to thaw them a bit before game time.

When you’re ready to play with these spiders, add some vinegar and some dish soap to a small dish. Mix it and carefully add the spices. The bubbles start to foam and melt! Watch your kids get excited about finding all the spiders!

The trick-or-treat game is another simple, yet fun Halloween activity for kids. All you need for this activity is a tray, some piping bags, some plastic cups, and lots of small plates, spoons, and spoons. I use the same plastic trays for this activity that we used for the shaving cream spirits.

Fun Halloween Party Games

Simply throw candy floss and raisins into the tray and provide plenty of plates and spoons to encourage sensory play. This is an activity that can be easily adapted by changing what you put on the tray (ideas: eyeballs, gummy worms, googly eyes, other Halloween candy, etc.). Encourage your child to count things, count things, do laundry, use the treadmill to pick things up, and more.

Witch stew is probably my kids’ favorite Halloween activity! It’s a very simple idea, but very fun and creative. For this activity, you will first need to boil some spaghetti noodles. For extra magical fun, add some orange or green food coloring or colored water. Then, collect random Halloween items like candy canes, plastic spiders, gooey eyes, etc. Basically a miniature you might find in the Halloween section at the store. You will need a tray for your items, spoons, forks and bowls. Finally, for a little fun you’ll need some baking soda and vinegar. Years ago I came across a really cool magic wand and we use it for this activity.

Once you have all of your magic supplies, let your kids grab their magic wands and get to work! Kids love mixing all the ingredients. The best part is adding the baking soda and vinegar to really heat up the stew!

Ice cream cones are a fun activity that needs to be prepared in advance. To make them, mix one part water with two parts baking soda to make a wet mixture. Then put some into each hole of the ice cream tray and add googly eyes to each hole. Freeze for an hour or two. For playtime, put the ice cubes in a shallow dish and give your child a small bowl of vinegar. We used small drops to pour the vinegar on the spirits. The kids loved watching them burn and slowly melt. One of the best parts is dropping the whole spirit into a bowl of vinegar to create little volcanoes.

Let’s face it, slime is fun year-round and it’s super easy to change it up for any holiday. Spider slime is probably one of my kids and my favorites for Halloween. To make spider slime, all you have to do is use your favorite recipe and add plastic spiders!

My favorite candy recipe is made using two bottles of school glue (5 0z), about 10 oz of water, and 8 oz of liquid starch. You can use clear school glue or colored school glue depending on how you want your flower to look. Pour two bottles of school glue into a large bowl and then add water. Gradually add half of the liquid starch and stir. Continue adding the liquid starch little by little until the mixture absorbs water and looks like a ball of dough. You may not need all your liquid breakfast. Use your hands to mix the slime until it is sticky. Finally, add the spiders and get ready to play!

My kids love stretching out the slime and picking up the spiders, only to put them back in and start over. You can get creative with your slime by adding some glitter, using different colored glue, adding confetti or other little Halloween items.

Play-Doh dolls are a great and easy Halloween activity for kids. All you need is orange Play-Doh, green pipe cleaners, and small beads or pattern blocks. We did this activity in several different ways. We made round pumpkins out of Play-Doh and for decoration we made sheep pumpkins. Black flowers are an easy tool to create doll faces. Using pattern blocks for your pumpkin face is another fun way to practice and play with shapes. For more
