Crafts To Do During Quarantine – I know you’ve heard it left and right and maybe it’s just in your brain (as in mine) but I needed to write to you readers and express my thoughts on the state of our troubled world. Here’s how we navigated by COVID-19 and here at The House That Lars Built.

As creators for hundreds of thousands of people every day, we are in a unique position to provide richness and diversity (both!). In this time of social distancing and lockdown, we’ve been inspired by other artists who are offering their resources for free (and we’re sharing some of our favorites below and on Instagram!). I have been very unsuccessful in contributing to generosity.

In full transparency, we are a team of 8 and have already felt the hardest impact of the economy on our small business, making me understand how we can contribute to the heart and soul of our changing world. While practicing social distancing or quarantine, craft can help you and your kids exercise your hands, manage stress, and explore your creativity in a way you don’t always have time to! After two days of sitting on your couch watching Netflix, you’re going to get really bored of quarantining yourself. Personally, I like to keep my hands busy when I’m stuck at home, and what better way to do it than by crafting?

Not only will these 10 ingenious projects keep you busy for hours, helping you stay grounded for a while, but when you’re done, you’ll have a gift and jewelry to use or give to friends. win win!

Knitting is a great way to keep your hands busy while you’re walking around all day, and there are so many great projects you can do. If you’re new to crafting, we recommend starting with a simple design like a scarf – I almost always double-wrap a scarf when I’m drilling. They are difficult to deal with and have worked extremely well for their intended purpose!

All you need to get started is a knitting needle and a pair of needles. Then watch the tutorial that explains the basic connections and get started with your creativity. Our editor, Courtney Campbell, has tried Knitters and swears by the service, saying the series is easy to follow and includes everything you need for each product.
